Abstract

Cardiomyopathies are a group of diseases of the heart muscle characterized by structural and functional changes in the myocardium that are not associated with arterial hypertension, congenital heart defects, or ischemic disease. These pathologies are an important cause of heart failure and sudden cardiac death. Depending on the clinical and morphological features, dilated, hypertrophic, restrictive, and arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathies are distinguished, as well as specific forms that arise against the background of systemic diseases and genetic disorders.
