Abstract

This thesis analyzes the historical origins of pilgrimage culture, its role in world religions – particularly in Islam – and its socio-spiritual significance in the daily life of the Uzbek people. The study also reveals the interconnection and synthesis of folk beliefs related to Islamic doctrines and pre-Islamic nature cults, illustrated through the example of shrines in the Namangan region.
