Abstract

Vitamin D deficiency is common among patients with autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) and may contribute to the persistence of autoimmune inflammation. In this study, cholecalciferol supplementation for 3 months significantly increased serum 25(OH)D levels and reduced thyroid autoantibody titers in patients with euthyroid AIT. A daily dose of 5000 IU demonstrated greater efficacy than 2000 IU in reducing TPOAb and TgAb levels and decreasing thyroid volume. These findings support the dose-dependent immunomodulatory effects of vitamin D and its potential role as an adjunctive therapy in AIT.
