Abstract

Pneumonia remains one of the most significant diseases of the respiratory system and continues to be a major cause of morbidity worldwide, particularly among children, elderly patients, and individuals with chronic comorbidities. Despite considerable progress in antimicrobial therapy, diagnostic methods, and intensive care, pneumonia is often associated with prolonged recovery, persistent functional impairment of the respiratory system, and a high risk of complications. After the acute inflammatory process resolves, many patients experience reduced lung ventilation, impaired bronchial drainage, decreased exercise tolerance, and residual inflammatory or fibrotic changes in lung tissue. These factors may lead to delayed recovery, recurrent infections, and deterioration in quality of life. Therefore, modern clinical practice increasingly emphasizes the importance of comprehensive rehabilitation as an integral component of pneumonia management.
