Abstract

This paper examines the production structure of the GMZ-3 Hydrometallurgical Plant located in Uchkuduk, Navoi region, and analyzes opportunities for improving energy efficiency within the uranium processing cycle. The study reviews the technological stages of uranium extraction and processing, including crushing, grinding, leaching, solvent extraction, ion exchange, and yellowcake production. Particular attention is given to the utilization of secondary energy resources generated during technological processes. The existing steam generation system of the plant and the potential application of a small steam turbine for electricity generation are evaluated. The results indicate that the integration of small-scale steam turbine units into industrial processes can reduce energy losses associated with steam pressure reduction, improve fuel and energy resource utilization, and increase the overall energy efficiency of the enterprise. The findings may serve as a basis for the modernization of energy systems at uranium-processing enterprises operating under similar technological conditions.
