Abstract

This paper explores the pedagogical paradigm shift induced by the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in English Language Teaching (ELT) within technical colleges. Unlike general language education, ELT in technical domains demands a highly specialized focus on English for Specific Purposes (ESP), technical literacy, and workplace communication. This study analyzes the practical applications of generative AI, automated feedback systems, and adaptive learning platforms in enhancing vocational language training. It addresses the distinct methodology required to align AI capabilities with engineering and technological curricula, assesses empirical benefits regarding learner engagement and specialized vocabulary acquisition, and examines critical challenges such as algorithmic bias, over-reliance, and academic integrity. Ultimately, the paper proposes a balanced framework for instructors to leverage AI as a cognitive partner rather than a replacement for human pedagogical oversight.
