Abstract

This thesis discusses the activities of Azerbaijani director Aliaskar Askarov, the first director of the play “Padarkush”, one of the earliest examples of Uzbek written drama. The study analyzes his role in the theatrical movement in Turkestan in the early 20th century and his contribution to the formation of the national theatre.
