Abstract

Groundwater is one of the most important sources of drinking water worldwide; however, its quality is increasingly threatened by natural and anthropogenic pollution sources. Industrial activities, agricultural practices, urbanization, and improper waste disposal contribute significantly to groundwater contamination. Polluted groundwater poses serious risks to human health and ecosystems, leading to chronic diseases, organ dysfunction, and environmental degradation. This article analyzes the main sources of groundwater pollution and discusses their medical, ecological, and socio-economic complications.
