This thesis explores the theoretical foundations of the sociology of punishment and its significance in state criminal policy. It is argued that punishment is not solely a tool for fighting crime but a complex social institution shaped by cultural, economic, and historical forces. The strategic role of sociological approaches in resocializing convicts and humanizing criminal punishments today is illustrated through the ongoing reforms in modern criminal policies.
