Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the effect of sleep duration and quality on glucose metabolism and hormonal regulation processes based on contemporary scientific data. Mechanisms examined in detail include reduced insulin sensitivity under conditions of sleep deprivation, increased sympathetic nervous system activity, circadian changes in cortisol and growth hormone secretion, disruption of leptin and ghrelin hormone balance, and the mutual pathophysiological interconnection of these processes.
