DENSITOMETRIC ASSESSMENT OF BONE MINERAL DENSITY IN PATIENTS WITH COMBINED FACIAL FRACTURES UNDER DIFFERENT TREATMENT REGIMENS
Abstract
Bone mineral density (BMD) is a key quantitative parameter reflecting the structural integrity and metabolic status of bone tissue, and it is increasingly used as an objective, reproducible tool for monitoring fracture healing beyond conventional radiographic assessment of callus formation. In maxillofacial trauma, evaluation of local bone density in the fracture area provides additional insight into the mineralization process accompanying consolidation, complementing biochemical markers of bone turnover such as alkaline phosphatase and C-telopeptide.
