Abstract

The quality of cotton fiber produced at cotton ginning enterprises is mainly determined by its spinning properties. Fiber strength, length, and the amount of defects and impurities are considered the main indicators affecting the spinning process and the quality of the final product. During the primary processing of cotton, mechanical and thermal effects may cause fiber damage and reduction in its quality indicators. Therefore, improving the efficiency of impurity separation while preserving the natural properties of cotton fiber remains an important scientific and technological problem.

This article analyzes the influence of cotton structural composition, porosity, and moisture content on the efficiency of the cleaning process. The effect of cotton separation into individual fiber-bearing seeds and the importance of technological clearances between working elements of cleaning machines and cotton pieces are considered.
