A COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS OF SEMANTIC CHANGES AND LEXICAL EVOLUTION IN CONTEMPORARY ENGLISH LANGUAGE DISCOURSE ACROSS DIFFERENT SOCIAL CONTEXTS

Abstract

This study explores the processes of semantic change and lexical evolution in contemporary English language discourse across different social contexts. The research examines how social, cultural, technological, and communicative factors contribute to the emergence of new lexical items and the transformation of existing word meanings. Special attention is given to the influence of digital communication, social media platforms, professional environments, educational settings, and everyday interactions on language development. Through linguistic and discourse analysis, the study identifies major patterns of semantic broadening, narrowing, amelioration, pejoration, metaphorical extension, and lexical innovation.
