High-temperature alloys are essential in aerospace, power generation, and industrial processes where components are exposed to extreme thermal and mechanical conditions. The performance of these materials is constrained by limitations in microstructural stability, creep resistance, oxidation, and corrosion at elevated temperatures. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the challenges associated with high-temperature alloy design, emphasizing nickel-based, cobalt-based, and iron-based systems. Key strengthening mechanisms, including precipitation hardening, solid solution strengthening, and grain boundary engineering, are discussed. The paper also evaluates the latest advancements in single-crystal superalloys, directionally solidified structures, and oxide dispersion-strengthened alloys. Microstructural evolution under service conditions, high-temperature deformation mechanisms, and protective surface strategies are reviewed. Finally, future research directions for next-generation ultra-high-temperature alloys with improved mechanical and thermal stability are outlined [1].
