Abstract

The Jadid movement, which emerged in the Turkestan region at the beginning of the 20th century, occupies a special place in the history of the spiritual and cultural development of the Uzbek people. New-method schools, formed as one of the main directions of this movement, aimed to reform the traditional education system, to harmonize secular knowledge with religious education, and to teach literacy through an accelerated method. The success of this vast reformist process largely depended on the availability of textbooks suited to the new pedagogical methods, and local intellectuals played a decisive role in accomplishing this task.
