Abstract

This paper examines communication between parents and adolescents as a key interpersonal socio-psychological mechanism that facilitates the constructive resolution of family conflicts. During adolescence, the growing striving for autonomy, the expansion of personal boundaries, the need to defend one's own views, and the increasing desire to participate actively in family decision-making require a reorganization of earlier patterns of parent-child relationships. Under such conditions, open communication, active listening, mutual respect, the non-accusatory expression of emotions and needs, the use of clarifying questions, negotiation, and the consolidation of agreements emerge as factors that shape the course and outcome of conflict. Drawing on the perspectives of Uzbek psychologists on family and interpersonal relations, together with contemporary international research, the paper substantiates the mechanism through which communication may shift from a conflict-generating factor to a psychological resource for conflict regulation. A preliminary empirical basis comprising 52 adolescents from 39 families in the Bukhara and Navoi regions is considered an initial scientific foundation for the in-depth examination of these relationships within the local socio-cultural context.
