This article undertakes a contrastive analysis of idioms formed on the basis of animal names in the English and Uzbek languages. In the course of the investigation, the semantic, structural, and cultural peculiarities inherent to the phraseological units of both languages were examined. The organic linkage between animal imagery and national mentality as well as cultural values was ascertained, and it was substantiated that idioms featuring the same animal name may convey divergent or analogous meanings in each language. Furthermore, the difficulties arising in the translation of idioms and the approaches to resolving them were delineated. The outcomes of the research possess substantial theoretical and practical significance for the domains of contrastive linguistics, translation studies, and phraseology.
