Love and betrayal are core elements used in Shakespearean tragedy. In this article, there will be an analysis of the comparative use of these elements in Othello, King Lear, and Romeo and Juliet. The analysis shows the consistent theme of love betrayed, be it through internal weaknesses, social barriers, or moral defects, which consequently leads to tragedy.
