Abstract

Radioactive radiation is one of the most important phenomena studied in nuclear physics and environmental science. Monitoring radioactive particles plays a crucial role in protecting the environment, ensuring radiation safety, and controlling nuclear technologies. The detection of ionizing radiation allows scientists to study nuclear processes and evaluate the level of radioactive contamination in air, water, soil, and biological systems. This article analyzes the physical nature of radioactive radiation and examines the main methods used for detecting radioactive particles. Special attention is given to modern radiation detectors such as Geiger–Müller counters, scintillation detectors, and semiconductor detectors. The environmental significance of radiation monitoring and its role in ecological safety are also discussed.
