METADATA AND TRANSLATOR ATTRIBUTION IN A PUSHKIN AUTHOR PARALLEL CORPUS

Abstract

The article examines metadata design and translator attribution in an author parallel corpus built around Aleksandr Pushkin and his translations into Uzbek. It argues that the translator must be encoded as a first-class agent rather than a bibliographic afterthought, and proposes a hybrid architecture combining TEI P5 corpus headers with the CLARIN Component Metadata Infrastructure. Drawing on the 1936 Pushkin jubilee and on the versions by Choʻlpon, Oybek and Usmon Nosir, the study shows that retranslation status, script variation and paratextual provenance form an indispensable analytical layer for any philological corpus of literary translation.
