THE EVOLUTION OF MODERN COMPUTER TERMINOLOGY: A COMPARATIVE LEXICO-SEMANTIC ANALYSIS OF ENGLISH AND UZBEK DIGITAL DISCOURSE

This article explores the dynamic evolution of computer terminology, focusing on the semantic mechanisms that facilitate the transition of general lexis into specialized Information Technology (IT) meta-language within English and Uzbek. The research examines how technical concepts are internalized, structured, and adapted across two typologically and genealogically distinct languages. Through a comparative analysis, the paper illustrates that while English heavily relies on the re-semanticization of domestic and functional metaphors, the Uzbek language actively utilizes a combination of phonetic borrowing, loan translation (calquing), and semantic extension. The study highlights the adaptive capacity of the Uzbek lexicon in contextualizing global digital tools within its pre-existing linguistic parameters, demonstrating that digital discourse is shaped by both global technological standards and localized linguistic evolution.
