DIGITAL GAMES AND TRADITIONAL PLAY-BASED METHODS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

Abstract

The study compares their influence on children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development. The analysis shows that digital educational games can support problem-solving, early literacy, numeracy and digital skills when used in a controlled and pedagogically meaningful way. At the same time, traditional play remains essential for developing communication, cooperation, creativity, emotional regulation and physical activity. The article argues that the most effective approach is not the replacement of traditional play with digital tools, but their balanced integration in the preschool learning environment.
