Abstract

Like many historical works of its time, Riyozul Muslimin opens with verses praising Allah, sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and offering sincere supplications. The study of classical Turkic literary heritage demonstrates that such hymns (hamd) traditionally constituted the opening section of literary works and represented an indispensable element of classical composition. In this manuscript, the introductory section occupies nine pages (pp. 124–132) and consists of 88 couplets (176 poetic lines).
