Abstract

Methodology is generally understood as the theory of the structure, logical organization, methods, and tools of scientific inquiry. It provides the principles that guide researchers in the process of acquiring and interpreting knowledge. A method, in turn, is a specific procedure or technique used to obtain scientific knowledge. In linguistics, a method refers to a systematic way of investigating language and its various components. The collection of such procedures forms a system of linguistic methods that enables scholars to study language scientifically (Akhmanova, 2004; Crystal, 2010).
