This study examines the theoretical foundations, formation, and developmental stages of empathy competence within the context of contemporary education. The historical evolution of the concept of empathy, its etymological origins, and its psychological and pedagogical interpretations are analyzed. The paper argues that empathy competence is a multidimensional construct integrating cognitive, emotional, and behavioral components, all of which contribute to effective interpersonal interaction and professional performance. Particular attention is paid to the role of empathy in foreign language education, where successful communication requires not only linguistic proficiency but also an understanding of cultural values, communicative norms, and social behavior.
