This thesis examines numerical data and quantification as linguistic-pragmatic resources for constructing credibility in English and Uzbek online news discourse. Numbers are frequently perceived as objective, measurable and verifiable; therefore, percentages, dates, monetary values, frequencies and statistical comparisons can increase the evidential force of a news statement. At the same time, numerical precision does not automatically guarantee reliability: credibility also depends on source transparency, contextualization and the linguistic framing of figures. The study compares recurrent quantitative patterns in English and Uzbek digital journalism and identifies both shared and language-specific tendencies in the presentation of numerical evidence.
