SONG AND DANCE TRADITIONS IN THE SURKHANDARYA OASIS: THE “RAYHON” FOLK ENSEMBLE AND THE ACTIVITY OF SAYRAM QURBONOVA

This article ethnographically analyzes the traditional song and dance art formed in the Surkhandarya oasis and its role in local cultural life. The study highlights the activities of the “Rayhon” folk song and dance ensemble operating in the Uzun district, as well as the contribution of Sayram Qurbonova, who worked productively in the ensemble for many years, to the development of the arts. In addition, the ensemble’s repertoire, national and neighboring peoples’ dances, stage culture, and the role of the ensemble in preserving and promoting local traditions are examined. During the research, the processes of preserving national culture, attracting the younger generation to art, and developing ethnocultural heritage through the activities of folk ensembles are analyzed.
