Abstract

This article examines phrasal verbs as a significant component of the English language, focusing on their structure, classification, semantic properties, and contextual usage. Phrasal verbs, consisting of a verb combined with one or more particles, represent a complex and highly productive area of English vocabulary. The study explores theoretical perspectives proposed by linguists such as A.V. Koonin, I.V. Arnold, and R. Quirk, emphasizing their role in both formal and informal communication. Special attention is given to the semantic ambiguity and idiomatic nature of phrasal verbs, which often pose challenges for language learners. The article provides numerous examples illustrating how phrasal verbs function in different contexts, highlighting their stylistic and pragmatic significance. The research concludes that mastering phrasal verbs is essential for achieving fluency and communicative competence in English.
