Abstract

This article examines the importance of learning synonyms in foreign language acquisition and their contribution to vocabulary development, communicative competence, reading comprehension, and writing skills. Synonyms allow learners to express ideas with greater precision, avoid repetition, and understand contextual differences between words. The study applies the IMRAD structure to analyze the pedagogical value of synonym instruction. Findings suggest that systematic synonym learning significantly improves language proficiency and learner confidence. Recommendations are provided for integrating synonym-based activities into language teaching practice.
