Abstract

This article systematically analyzes the pedagogical and psychological significance of design and illustrations in general education textbooks in the educational process of students. During the study, the role of visual elements in the formation of the student's consciousness, perception, thinking and worldview is highlighted in terms of grade levels. The didactic features of using illustrations in primary, secondary and higher education textbooks are revealed using the example of subjects. Also, the experience of developed countries and the reforms being carried out in general education textbooks in Uzbekistan are analyzed, and scientific conclusions and practical recommendations are given on improving textbook design.
