NATIONAL MENTALITY IN UZBEK AND ENGLISH PAREMIOLOGICAL UNITS

Abstract

Paremiological units, including proverbs and sayings, represent an essential component of a nation's cultural heritage and collective wisdom. They reflect the historical experience, values, beliefs, and worldview of a particular society. This article examines the national mentality embodied in Uzbek and English paremiological units through a comparative linguistic and cultural analysis. The study reveals that while both languages share universal human values such as honesty, diligence, and wisdom, they differ significantly in their representation of family relations, individualism, hospitality, and social responsibility. The findings demonstrate that proverbs serve as valuable linguistic tools for understanding national character and intercultural communication.
