THE ROLE OF PHRASAL VERBS IN ACHIEVING NATURAL AND EFFECTIVE ENGLISH COMMUNICATION
Abstract
Phrasal verbs represent one of the most distinctive and widely used features of the English language. They consist of a verb combined with one or more particles, usually adverbs or prepositions, creating meanings that are often different from the original verb. Despite their frequency in everyday communication, phrasal verbs remain a challenging area for English language learners because of their idiomatic nature and semantic complexity. This paper examines the importance of phrasal verbs in modern English, their linguistic characteristics, communicative functions, and the difficulties associated with their acquisition. The study also highlights the role of phrasal verbs in developing natural fluency and improving communicative competence.
