CONTRASTIVE STUDY OF APHORISMS ON THE CONCEPT OF HOMELAND IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES

Abstract

This article presents a contrastive linguocultural analysis of aphorisms related to the concept of homeland in English and Uzbek. The study examines how the concept of homeland is conceptualized, evaluated, and metaphorically represented in aphoristic expressions of both languages. While English aphorisms tend to approach homeland from a philosophical and critical perspective emphasizing individual consciousness and civic responsibility, Uzbek aphorisms predominantly portray homeland as a sacred, moral, and collective value deeply rooted in historical memory and national identity. The research highlights both universal and culture-specific features of the homeland concept.
