ECONOMIC DIPLOMACY OF UZBEKISTAN IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBALIZATION

Abstract

This article examines the evolution and contemporary features of Uzbekistan’s economic diplomacy in the context of globalization. Economic diplomacy is understood as a strategic instrument of foreign policy aimed at promoting national economic interests through trade, investment attraction, international negotiations, and integration into global markets. The study analyzes the transformation of Uzbekistan’s foreign economic policy since 2016, highlighting the shift from a relatively closed economic model to a more open, reform-oriented, and globally integrated approach. Using qualitative methodology based on constructivist and institutional frameworks, the research draws on content analysis of official documents, comparative analysis, and secondary data from international organizations such as the World Bank, IMF, and UNCTAD. The findings indicate that Uzbekistan’s economic diplomacy has become increasingly diversified, involving active engagement with major global and regional partners, participation in international economic institutions, and development of investment-oriented foreign policy instruments. At the same time, challenges such as structural dependence on commodity exports, institutional constraints, and geopolitical competition continue to shape its trajectory. The article concludes that Uzbekistan’s economic diplomacy is transitioning toward a more strategic, adaptive, and globally integrated model, which enhances its role in international economic relations under conditions of globalization.
