Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs) represent a complex and multifaceted set of conditions characterized by pain, dysfunction, and structural derangement of the temporomandibular joint and its associated musculature. These disorders pose significant challenges for both diagnosis and treatment, particularly in patients who have suffered the additional complication of partial tooth loss. Effective management of TMDs in this patient population requires a comprehensive understanding of the underlying pathophysiology, the influence of occlusal changes, and the potential therapeutic modalities that may contribute to the restoration of function and reduction of discomfort.
