BEAUTY CONCEPT EXPRESSED THROUGH SIMILES IN THE UZBEK AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES: A COGNITIVE LINGUISTIC PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

This paper examines the cognitive representation of the concept of beauty through similes in the Uzbek and English languages. It explores how beauty is conceptualized and verbalized by means of culturally significant images. The comparative analysis demonstrates that while both languages employ similar cognitive mechanisms in forming similes, the choice of images reflects their distinct cultural values and aesthetic traditions. The study highlights the close relationship between language, cognition, and culture.
