ETHICAL CHOICE AND COLLECTIVE MEMORY IN YURI BONDAREV’S WAR PROSE

Abstract

This article examines Yuri Bondarev’s war prose as an ethical and memory-centered narrative system in which combat is represented not primarily as spectacle, but as a field of moral testing and collective responsibility. Focusing on the dialogic organization of decision-making, the poetics of extreme situations, and the transformation of individual experience into a shared mnemonic framework, the study demonstrates how Bondarev builds a model of wartime subjectivity that is simultaneously personal, institutional, and historical.
