TONGUE TWISTERS AS A PAREMIOLOGICAL UNIT

Abstract

This article examines tongue twisters as a specific type of paremiological unit within the system of folk speech genres. Although traditionally studied from a phonetic or pedagogical perspective, tongue twisters also possess paremiological features such as stability, reproducibility, cultural embeddedness, and collective authorship. The study analyzes their linguistic nature, functional characteristics, and position within paremiology, highlighting both their similarities to and differences from proverbs, sayings, and riddles. The research contributes to the expansion of paremiological theory and the classification of minor folklore genres.
