SAFETY AND EFFICACY OF MODIFIED MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY FOR COPROSTASIS IN ELDERLY MEGACOLON PATIENTS

Coprostasis in elderly patients with megacolon represents a significant clinical challenge due to age-related physiological changes, multiple comorbidities, and increased surgical risks. Traditional surgical approaches are often associated with high rates of postoperative complications and prolonged recovery in this patient population. In recent years, modified minimally invasive surgical techniques have emerged as a promising alternative, aiming to reduce operative trauma and improve clinical outcomes.
This study evaluates the safety and efficacy of modified minimally invasive surgery compared with conventional surgical methods in the treatment of coprostasis in elderly patients with megacolon. Key outcome measures include operative time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative complications, length of hospital stay, and recovery time. The findings demonstrate that modified minimally invasive surgery offers significant advantages in terms of reduced surgical trauma, faster recovery, and improved postoperative outcomes, supporting its use as an effective and safe treatment option for geriatric patients.
