Abstract

This article analyzes the means of expressing the seme of “man” in Uzbek and English proverbs from linguosemantic and linguocultural perspectives. During the research, semantic components such as the social role of men, bravery, diligence, family responsibility, and leadership in Uzbek and English paremiological units were comparatively studied. The results of the analysis showed that in Uzbek proverbs the image of a man is mainly interpreted as the backbone of the family and the spiritual pillar of society, whereas in English proverbs individualism, independence, and pragmatism appear as dominant semantic features.
