Abstract

Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) represents a severe neurological condition characterized by paroxysmal facial pain episodes that, while not directly life-threatening, impose substantial physical and emotional suffering, significantly compromising patients' quality of life and occasionally precipitating suicidal ideation. This meta-analysis investigates the efficacy of differentiated surgical approaches in improving quality of life outcomes among TN patients. The study encompasses comprehensive evaluation of modern diagnostic modalities, treatment strategies, and quality of life assessment methodologies. A comparative analysis of treatment effectiveness was conducted utilizing validated questionnaires to determine pre- and post-intervention quality of life parameters. The findings demonstrate that microvascular decompression (MVD), particularly when performed via modified surgical access, yields superior outcomes in pain relief and quality of life improvement compared to destructive techniques. The application of disease-specific assessment tools revealed significant postoperative improvements across all treatment groups, with particularly favorable results observed in patients undergoing MVD procedures. This research underscores the importance of individualized treatment selection based on comprehensive preoperative evaluation and highlights the critical role of quality of life assessment in optimizing therapeutic outcomes for TN patients.
