Abstract

This article examines the transformative influence of advancements in machine translation (MT), specifically Neural Machine Translation (NMT), on the professional translation landscape. As these technologies evolve, the role of the human translator is shifting from primary creator to specialized editor. By discussing the integration of MT into professional workflows, the necessity of post-editing (MTPE), and the persistent requirement for human cultural intuition, this paper illustrates a symbiotic relationship between human and machine. Case studies from various industries demonstrate that while MT significantly enhances productivity and efficiency, human oversight remains the definitive safeguard for quality and cultural relevance.
